Decommissioning legacy platforms and modernising DFAT's digital estate on Protected Azure

What they were up against

DFAT needed to reduce risk and operational overhead from ageing legacy platforms and bespoke applications—including SharePoint 2010, Lotus Notes Domino, and Access databases—while moving to a secure, scalable cloud operating model suitable for stringent security and workflow requirements.

What we did

• Assessed legacy platforms including SharePoint 2010, Lotus Notes Domino, and Access databases for migration and rebuild
• Rebuilt applications using ASP.NET / .NET Core Web APIs with modern SPA front ends (Angular, Vue, Quasar)
• Delivered within a Protected Microsoft Azure environment to meet DFAT's high-security requirements
• Implemented API and SPA separation to establish modern, maintainable application architecture
• Executed delivery using Agile/Scrum in close collaboration with DFAT stakeholders
• Supported decommissioning of high-risk legacy platforms through phased rebuild and migration
